JewFace Presents the LA Staged Reading of “Three and a Half Anne Franks”

Come see this brilliant play’s newest iteration for FREE on Monday June 10, 2024 at 2pm. Produced by JewFace, a theatre collective program developed with ShPIeL Performing Identity, run by LA-based artists Casey Adler and Yvonne Cone.

About the Play:

Three and a Half Anne Franks by Maya Macdonald

Three people audition to play Anne Frank in a production that could not obtain the rights to a single word from Anne’s diary. As interpretations vary, we begin to see the difference between who Anne Frank was and who we need her to be. With biting humor, this play explores complications of privacy and authorship, appropriation, race and Jewish identity, and the performance of history.

This incredible play was a finalist for the O’Neil Playwrights Conference, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater New Play, The Leah Ryan Award, and Berkley Rep Ground Floor.

Directed by: Illana Stein (Theatre for a New Audience, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Yale Repertory Theatre)

Starring: Adam Tsekhman (Legends of Tomorrow), Adriyah Young (Never Have I Ever), Lauren Schaffel (Still Standing), Lillian Mimi McKenzie (The Braid’s What Do I Do with All This Heritage?), and Yvonne Cone (The Mysteries of Laura). With stage directions read by Izzy Salant (The Weakest Link).
